rPET Flakes — Hot-Washed

Hot-washed rPET flakes from post-consumer PET bottles, produced on certified Turkish recycling lines in clear, light-blue and mixed-colour grades.

IV 0.72–0.80 dl/gHS 3907.61100% PCR

Our rPET flake comes from Turkish hot-wash lines we inspect in person, running post-consumer bottle bales through sink-float separation, hot caustic wash and optical sorting. Every consignment ships with a batch declaration stating recycled content and pre-/post-consumer split, backed by the producer's RecyClass or EuCertPlast certification. For UK converters, certified 100% post-consumer input counts in full toward the 30% recycled-content threshold that exempts packaging from the Plastic Packaging Tax at £228.82 per tonne (as of mid-2026).

Compliance & documentation

Waste / product classification
Shipped as product with an agreed specification, not as waste: hot-washed flake meeting the parameters above, classified HS 3907.61 (PET with ≥30% recycled content) or 3915.90 where the destination's end-of-waste position requires. We state the classification on each contract before shipment.
Certification chain
Produced on RecyClass Recycling Process or EuCertPlast-certified lines with EN 15343 traceability. Certificates are verifiable in the schemes' public databases; we link certificate numbers on every batch declaration.
Documentation supplied
  • Batch declaration — recycled content % and pre-/post-consumer split
  • Producer certificate reference (RecyClass Recycling Process / EuCertPlast)
  • Consignment spec sheet with lot test results
  • Origin declaration under the UK–Türkiye FTA (0% tariff)

Applications & end markets

Hot-washed flake is the feedstock of the European rPET economy. Typical end uses among our buyers:

  • PET sheet and thermoforming rolls (30–100% rPET)
  • Bottle-to-bottle preforms, after super-clean decontamination
  • Polyester staple fibre and filament
  • Strapping tape and injection compounds
  • Food-contact packaging — only via an approved super-clean process (see our food-contact guide)

Quality & inspection

  • 01

Producer verification: we audit the wash line, lab and certification scope in person before listing any supplier.

  • 02

Pre-shipment sampling: composite sample per lot; IV, moisture and contaminant panel checked against contract spec.

  • 03

Photo and video record of loading, big-bag labels and seals, shared before the container leaves the plant.

  • 04

Documentation pack assembled and sent ahead of arrival: batch declaration, spec sheet, certificate references, origin declaration.

  • 05

Arrival confirmation and feedback loop: any deviation logged and resolved against retained samples.

Frequently asked questions

Does your flake count toward the UK Plastic Packaging Tax exemption?
Yes. The tax exempts packaging containing at least 30% recycled plastic; our flake is 100% post-consumer and every consignment carries a batch declaration stating that figure with the producer's certificate reference. That declaration is the evidence HMRC expects you to hold. As of mid-2026 the rate is £228.82 per tonne, so certified input has a direct, calculable value — our PPT calculator shows the saving for your tonnage.
What IV should I specify for my application?
For thermoformed sheet, 0.72–0.76 dl/g is typical. Bottle preform production needs 0.76–0.80 dl/g or higher, usually with solid-state polycondensation downstream. Fibre spinners often accept 0.64 dl/g and up. Tell us the end product and we will match the grade; every lot's measured IV appears on the consignment spec sheet.
Can I use this flake in food-contact packaging?
Not directly. Food-contact rPET requires an approved super-clean decontamination process under the rules aligned with Regulation (EU) 2022/1616; standard hot-washed flake is the input to such processes, not the output. If you need food-grade material, ask for our food-grade rPET pellet or our sheet with approved super-clean input, both supplied with a Declaration of Compliance.
How do you control PVC contamination?
PVC is the critical contaminant in rPET because it degrades at PET processing temperatures. Our producers combine optical sorting on bottles and on flake with density separation; typical lots test at 30–60 ppm. Your contract states the maximum; the lot's measured value is on the spec sheet, and we retain sealed samples from each shipment for dispute resolution.
What are your payment and delivery terms?
Standard terms are a balanced T/T structure — deposit on contract, balance against shipping documents — with letters of credit available for first trades. We quote EXW, FCA, CIF or DAP per deal. Deep-sea transit from Turkish ports to Felixstowe or London Gateway runs 12–18 days; a 20' container carries about 22 tonnes of flake in big-bags.
